Meadowlark Hills is a not-for-profit organization that is devoted to caring for the elderly in the Manhattan area. They provide multiple services and programs throughout their facilities for all levels of senior care. Meadowlark Hills has a person-centered approach when it comes to care.
Through a community needs assessment it was seen that Manhattan needed and could accommodate more appropriate housing for a larger range of the senior community. On March 16, 2022, Meadowlark Hills broke ground for a new independent living facility “The Monarch” located on the southeast corner of Meadowlark Road and Meadowlark Circle.
After just over a yearlong construction schedule, The Monarch opened its doors to the new residents. The Monarch is a 24-unit independent living facility, split between two towers, each with three levels. The building brings a modernized feel, with an open floor plan and high ceilings allowing for a flood of natural light. Floor plans include studio apartments, one bed, one bath and two bed two bath options. Throughout the construction process BHS Construction communicated with residents in order to customize their apartment into the home they envisioned.
The Monarch offers various features for all residents to enjoy. Connecting the Monarch Towers is a common room for gathering and socializing with neighbors. The north and south side of the building has outdoor seating available to enjoy the fresh air. In the basement of the facility is a 36-stall parking garage that can be accessed by both elevators and stairs making it easy for the residents to reach their cars.
On September 27, 2023, Meadowlark Hills hosted a housewarming party for all the residents welcoming them to their new home. A reception was hosted in the Monarch clubhouse and on both patios. The night concluded with a celebration toast and a tour of the new apartments.
